There are moments in history like right now, that help define us as human beings.
Moments that define your character, that define your values, that define your stance on humanity. Right now, we have the biggest opportunity for unified solidarity among all races of the world, pushing for justice and change for our Black brothers and sisters. The crimes committed against African-Americans in today’s world are emblazed reminders of the greater crimes committed in history, like mass incarceration, systemic societal oppression, ethnic cleansing, and the displacement of a whole race forced into slavery.
This topic is very important to me, part of the reason being that I can relate through first-hand experience. My family and I have been victims of oppression, racism, and police brutality as well. My first cousin was fatally beaten to death by law enforcement, so demanding accountability from law enforcement is ingrained in who I am as a social activist.
We demand justice for George Floyd and the countless other innocent Black lives that were taken unjustly. We’re also demanding all politicians to take this opportunity to start implementing changes immediately in our broken systems, starting with law enforcement
in this country.
Establishing a platform like BeatStars, where Black creators can thrive as entrepreneurs, IS NOT ENOUGH FOR US. The team and I at BeatStars have put together a formal plan that we will be announcing very soon on how we will support our Black creators and the causes that matter to them, some of which includes a mentorship program, a $200,000 BeatStars scholarship fund and donating $10,000 to each of these three organizations: Black Lives Matter, NAACP LDF and Color of Change. We will also add these three organizations to the Beats4Love campaign on BeatStars, so our community of over 2 million creators has the ability to donate a portion of their music sales to them.
This is not an easy time, but fighting for the things you love and cherish has never been easy. I have so much faith in what we all can accomplish together as a community if we stand united against violations of fundamental human rights.
My Black brothers and sisters, I stand with you. I love you. I pray for you.
I pray that your faith continues on strong and that God watches over you and protects you in the midst of the fight for your rights.
God bless you,
