WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
Email marketing is a great way to stay engaged with your customers and keep them informed on new releases, sales, and more.
Not only is it a cost-effective way to market your music, but it also gives you a chance to speak directly to customers, via their inbox, at a time that is convenient for them.
EMAIL MARKETING BEST PRACTICES & TIPS
- To help you better understand your audience and clientele, include monthly surveys and ask questions about what they’re wanting from your beat store, how you can improve, etc.
- An Adweek report showed that emoji usage in emails increased by over 775% year-over-year. Using emojis in your subject line, preview line, or even your email’s body copy can help you say less with more, and helps convey emotion in your writing. While research shows that emoji usage can help increase your email open rates, it’s important to determine if you even need to be using them. Your email audience may not react well to emojis, especially if you’re appealing to a more serious, professional clientele base. You can A/B test (compare emails) two emails to see what your open rates looking like - one with emojis, and one without.
- Keep it short. Nobody is going to read a 10 paragraph email. Keep your most important information towards the top of your email, with your least important towards the bottom. This helps to get your message across in an effective way to email skimmers.
- Use graphics and pictures when you can! Humans are visual creatures, and creatives especially react well to visual components included in an email. This can be as simple as including an email header or your album artwork where appropriate.
- Use exclamation points sparingly. A few dispersed through the email are okay, but using too many can make you seem childish and unprofessional.
- Be clear in your subject line. Ambiguous subject lines tend to go straight into the trash, especially with inboxes that receive hundreds of emails a day.
- Optimize your email for mobile devices and dark mode.. If you’re using different colors rather than standard white background/black text, then be sure that your text will show up in dark mode.
- Be sure to include a CTA or Call to Action in your email! This is a button that typically goes at the end of an email that your readers can click on. This can be as simple as linking your readers to your beat store or your new mix tape.
